Chicago - Day 1

Our family of 3 took a 4 day trip to Chicago this past weekend. We had the absolute best time!

Caroline would have been happy if we just stayed in the airport all 4 days - she loves airplanes! Here she is watching the airplanes land and take-off. She was SO happy :)
And when it was time to get on our plane, she did GREAT! She didn't cry or try to get up and walk around. She just happily sat on Mommy and Daddy's laps. She was such a good girl!
The fun plane ride was just the start of our great trip. Once we got to Chicago we went to a great restaurant, Portillo's, for Italian Beef and Chicago Style Hot Dogs. SOOO good!!

After lunch we headed to the American Girl Store. Caroline was in Heaven! But do you know who had more fun? DADDY!! :) We went into the store planning to just buy Caroline a "Bitty Baby", that was until Daddy spotted all of the "cute outfits" (his words). We ended up leaving with a baby doll and 2 extra outfits...daddy's ideas and his picks!
Caroline wouldn't let us leave the store without getting her doll out of the box. She is such a good little Mommy. Awww!
After our mini spending spree at American Girl, we walked down Michigan Ave. We managed to just window shop at the rest of the stores :)
After our long walk, we decided to spend some time in Millennium Park (our favorite part about Chicago). In the park they have these really cool fountains that display the images of Chicago residents. We had never seen anything like it.

Then it was time to check into our hotel...Caroline's first time staying in a hotel! She was sooo excited when she got into the room.
Once she checked out the big bed, she spent a little more time bonding with her Bitty Baby.

And Daddy even got in on the fun - he was so excited to get the doll in one of her new outfits :)
He was meant to be the daddy to a little girl.
After we were rested up, we headed back to Millennium Park to check out the "Bean".
Our family photo in the "Bean" :)
A cool view of the city of Chicago.

Mommy's favorite part about Millennium Park -- right in the middle of the park, there was water to soak your feet. Fun and relaxing!
After soaking her feet, Caroline put them back on the ground to run around with Daddy.

And after such a long and fun day, we all sat down for some very yummy dinner at the Plaza at Millennium Park Grill.
"What? We can't eat here every day? It was so yummy!"

It was a great start to a fun vacation. More to come!
