Amish Country
Today we decided to take Caroline on her first trip to Intercourse, PA. Before Caroline was born, Jason and I would go to Intercourse on a regular basis to find little country accents for our house. This time we went to Intercourse and didn't buy any pretty stuff for the house, but instead we checked out the petting zoo (if you can count a horse, 2 sheep, and some hens as a petting zoo) and the wooden train. At the *petting zoo*, Caroline got to meet Derby, a mini horse, who is well trained in getting people to buy him food. When we approached his stall, he checked us out and then proceeded to walk out of the stall and over to the fence. On the fence was a blue plastic container, which Derby started hitting with his nose. Turns out that you can pay 25 cents for a handful of Derby's food, which you put in the blue plastic container. We couldn't resist his sweet face (although I have a feeling that if we didn't buy him some food, he wouldn't have been so sweet) and we bought him some food. After that, we went on the wooden train, which Caroline loved. We wanted to go on a horse and buggy ride, but we just couldn't justify paying $24.00 for a spin around a corn field...we'll leave that to the tourists. Overall, it was a really fun afternoon, hanging out with the tourists...and Derby the hungry horse.
