Christmas Eve

Growing up, my favorite holiday tradition was Christmas Eve at Mimi and Poppop's house. It still doesn't feel like Christmas until we arrive there each year. This year was especially fun because Caroline was able to really get into everything. She got some really great gifts which she loved, but her favorite gift? A strainer! :)

A "not so smiley" Caroline before dinner. She was hungry!

A much happier Caroline post-eating.
Lots of presents!
But the packaging is just as fun :)
And the strainer is the most fun of all!

Caroline and Santa

This past weekend (once she was finally feeling better) Caroline got to meet Santa. We went to Nana's work Christmas party and that is where Caroline got to meet the big guy. Even though she wasn't so sure about sitting on his lap, she really loved the gift he gave her :)

Sick Baby

Our little Caroline has been a sick girl :( On Monday she started throwing up and refusing to eat and drink. This continued throughout the week. And then not only was she throwing up, but she was having diarrhea too. It wasn't fun. It got even worse when Mommy and Daddy got the same bug. On Thursday Daddy actually stayed home from work and I don't think the three of us left the sofa all day. Finally on Friday Caroline started to show signs of improvement, but it didn't last long and by Friday night our on-call doctor was sending us to the ER to have her evaluated for dehydration. She had blood work done and her levels were low, but thankfully they were high enough that we were sent home with instructions to force feed her liquids with a syringe. We didn't get home from the hospital until midnight so we decided to wait until the morning to make her drink. Wouldn't you know that at 5:30am when she woke up she was thirsty and chugged down a sippy full of water! Although she wasn't completely back to normal yesterday, it was definitely a good sign. And I am happy to report that today she has her appetite for food and liquids back. She was banging on the cabinets all day begging for food :) Although she did throw up once today...but that was from eating her pieces of pear too fast!

Christmas Tree, Oh Christmas Tree

This past weekend we headed out to get our Christmas tree...it was easier said than done. On Saturday we checked out a tree farm close to our house. Turns out that the trees were better suited for Caroline. All the trees taller than 3 feet tall seemed to be tagged :). So on Sunday morning we headed out to a different tree farm. Unfortunately it was SO cold that Caroline and Mommy had to spend most of the time in the car while Daddy and Gigi picked out a tree. When we got the tree home, we realized that maybe we shouldn't have made fun of the small trees at the first tree farm, because it turns out that Mommy is taller than the tree we ended up with...but it is the perfect shape! I'll post pics of the tree soon, but in the meantime, here are some pics from our adventures.

"Mommy, how will all of my presents fit under this tree?"

Caroline wanted to get down and run around...
...she really wanted to get down!

On our way to the 2nd tree farm.
Posing with a tree we THOUGHT we were going to get.
"These boots weren't made for walking."
This tree chopping thing is overrated. :)
